Delightfully Good Walnut Bars
Isn’t it a comfort to know that
walnuts are good for us, that they contain the kind of oil that helps the
heart, not hurts it? Notice how I save some walnuts for the tip of these bars?
That ‘s because we eat with or eyes as
well as our taste buds , and they just taste better wit a crunchy garnish.

1/3 cup reduced – calorie
margarine
1 cup SPLENDA Granular
2 eggs, or equivalent in
egg substitute
¼ cup unsweetened
applesauce
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
extract
¾ cup reduced – fat biscuit
baking mix
6 tablespoons purchased
graham cracker crumbs
½ cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a
7-by-11-inch biscuit pan with butter – flavored cooking spray. In a large bowl, cream margarine and SPLENDA , using a sturdy spoon . Stir in
eggs , apple sauce, and vanilla extract . Add baking mix and graham cracker
crumbs. Mix gently just to combine . Fold in 6 tablespoons walnuts. Carefully
spread batter into prepared pan. Evenly sprinkle remaining 2 tablespoons of
walnuts over top. Lightly spray top with butter flavored cooking spray. Bake
for 15 to 20 minutes. Place pan on a
wire rack and let set for at least 10 minutes. Cut into 24 bars.
